We are on the lookout for an experienced and motivated Senior Legal Counsel to join our high-performing legal team on a 12-month parental leave maximum term contract. We are open to both full time and part time engagements (minimum 4 days per week).  Ideal start date will be 13 January 2025.
This role is perfect for a proactive legal professional with 8+ years post-qualification experience (PQE) who is eager to contribute their expertise and thrive in a collaborative environment.
 

The Role:
As Senior Legal Counsel - Investments, you will play a pivotal role in advising on HESTA's diverse range of investment types. This includes attending to the documentation and management of the legal aspects of HESTA’s investment relationships with external parties, legal risk management and regulatory advice/oversight.  Your responsibilities will include:

  • Negotiating key transaction documents and providing advice on key regulations both in Australia and overseas
  • Advising on operational aspects of investments
  • Managing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Supporting the broader Legal team on material the negotiation of material contracts and responding to regulatory inquiries

 

A Day in the Life:

  • Collaborating with the Investment Management (IM) and Investment Execution (IE) teams
  • Structuring and negotiating investment relationships and fund formations
  • Reviewing and advising on investment management agreements
  • Participating in multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Assisting with organizational initiatives and regulatory developments

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 8+ years post-qualification experience (PQE) in private practice or in-house
  • Strong background in real estate and finance (ideally derivatives)
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Eager to learn and take on new challenges
  • Excellent team player with a positive, solutions-focused attitude
