Are you an experienced Workplace Health and Safety Specialist ready to pivot your career and make an incredible impact? In this newly created hybrid role– the WH&S and Risk Specialist works within our People and Culture team and across the business to provide specialist advice and support on practices, programs and policies related to health, safety, wellbeing, risk and compliance.
What You’ll Do:
Workplace Health and Safety
- Provide expert WH&S guidance to People Leaders and the People & Culture team.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state safety regulations through policy review and updates.
- Drive initiatives that enhance employee health, safety, and wellbeing.
- Lead workplace incident reporting, investigations, and regulator interactions.
- Manage Workcover claims and return-to-work plans.
- Implement proactive ergonomic and safety strategies.
- Collaborate across teams to develop WH&S training, resources, and compliance programs.
Risk and Compliance
- Advise on risk management and compliance within People & Culture.
- Develop and refine policies, processes, and reporting frameworks.
- Develop, implement and monitor preventative plans in response to identified risks, including psychosocial hazards.
- Promote awareness of risk prevention, including psychosocial hazards.
- Identify areas of opportunity for risk management related to health, safety, wellbeing and ensure appropriate controls are developed.
About You:
You will have experience in workplace health and safety, ideally within large corporates or consulting with proven experience advising employees and leaders on WH&S matters. Managing complex end-to-end Workcover claims and return-to-work processes comes naturally to you, and you are confident in engaging with regulators when needed.
Your expertise extends to both reactive support and proactive initiatives aimed at reducing risk and enhancing workplace capability. You have successfully developed and implemented policies, procedures, and incident reporting processes, and thrive on influencing health and safety practices to create a safer, more compliant workplace.
