About The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Technology Service Management & Operations, this is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up. You will take first-line ownership of Technology Asset Management, govern the CMDB as HESTA's single source of truth for technology assets, and design and embed the practices, taxonomy and tooling our technology environment relies on. Starting in an establishment phase, you will assess current maturity, hand-pick the roadmap, and lead the transition from an emerging capability to mature, steady-state governance.
- Ensure all technology assets, including hardware, software and cloud, are accurately classified, owned and recorded in line with the Technology Asset Management Standard
- Support the ongoing review of the Technology Asset Management Standard and embed asset requirements into change, procurement and onboarding processes
- Ensure automated discovery tools give full coverage across on-prem, cloud and hybrid environments, and resolve unapproved or unrecorded assets
- Partner closely with Technology Risk, Information Security, Service Delivery and Compliance teams as the go-to expert on technology asset management
- Manage the full asset lifecycle — from pre-production recording through to secure decommissioning and disposal
- Align asset classification with criticality, security and recovery requirements under CPS 230 and CPS 234
- Oversee software asset management, including licence tracking and compliance
- Identify and manage risks tied to asset data quality, end-of-life systems and unapproved assets, escalating as needed
- Report on CMDB data quality and lifecycle compliance to technology and risk governance forums
About You
You bring hands-on experience establishing or uplifting ITAM or CMDB capability from an early-stage baseline, ideally within a regulated environment such as financial services, banking or superannuation. You are comfortable managing a CMDB in ServiceNow or a comparable platform, and you know how to run automated discovery and bring others along with new ways of working.
You will also need:
- A STEM tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in information technology or service management
- ITIL certification (Foundation or above) is preferred
- Confidence engaging technology, risk and business stakeholders to embed asset management into everyday practice
- Experience conducting compliance assessments or audits related to technology standards
