Join HESTA’s Risk function during an exciting period of growth as Senior Manager – Controls & Assurance. Lead the Line 2 Controls and Assurance function and provide Executive and Board with confidence in the effectiveness of HESTA’s control environment. Reporting to the Head of Risk and supporting the Chief Risk Officer as a Risk Framework owner, you’ll set the strategic direction for HESTA’s Control and Assurance Frameworks, ensuring they are risk-based, effective, proportionate and aligned to strategy, risk appetite and regulatory obligations.
What You’ll Do
- Lead HESTA’s Control and Assurance Frameworks and continuous improvement agenda.
- Own the enterprise assurance map and annual controls assurance plan.
- Lead Line 2 control testing and drive meaningful remediation outcomes.
- Represent Controls and Assurance at relevant management and Board committees.
- Provide Executive and Board with clear insights on control health, assurance coverage and emerging themes.
- Drive coordinated assurance across Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit and external providers.
- Leverage data, analytics, automation and GRC technology to enhance assurance.
- Strengthen control maturity through effective challenge and partnership with senior leaders.
- Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing Controls and Assurance team.
What You’ll Bring
You’re a strategic and commercially minded risk, controls, assurance or audit leader with the credibility to influence across a complex organisation. You’ll bring:
- Extensive senior leadership experience in controls, assurance, risk or audit, ideally in financial services or superannuation.
- Strong knowledge of control frameworks, three lines of accountability, assurance and risk management.
- Proven experience designing and embedding enterprise-wide controls and assurance frameworks.
- Strong expertise in control testing, remediation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing Internal Audit, external assurance providers and third parties.
- Experience with GRC platforms such as Archer or Protecht and a passion for data-led assurance.
- Exceptional influencing and stakeholder engagement skills, with proven experience presenting to Executives/Board.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing and inclusive teams.
- Relevant tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in Risk, Business or related discipline.
