The opportunity

Exceptional opportunity to drive mature embedment of HESTA’s compliance strategy and operational practices as our Senior Manager - Compliance Framework & Operations.

As a senior leader of leaders within our Compliance Team, you'll architect and embed fund-wide compliance and own both the Compliance and Privacy Frameworks. You will also lead three critical functional teams: Breach Management, Obligations Management and Compliance Monitoring & Assurance. Reporting to the General Manager Compliance, you'll champion both disciplined execution and innovation in compliance practices, including the use of technology (including AI) to support the principle of ‘compliance by design’ with effective and efficient oversight.

This is a rare opportunity to shape compliance excellence in a purpose-driven superannuation organisation.

What you’ll do:

You'll provide strategic direction and hands-on leadership across all compliance operations — from playing a co-governing role (with the Line 2 Risk team) in developing and overseeing HESTA's GRC system (HESTAssure) to delivering actionable insights through quality reporting for Executive and Board stakeholders. Your role combines strategic vision with operational delivery, ensuring our compliance frameworks are not just maintained but continuously improved and effectively embedded across the organisation. You'll lead and/or champion targeted improvement initiatives, support Risk Owners and the Compliance Partnering team in identifying and mitigating compliance risks, and foster a proactive compliance culture that drives meaningful business outcomes.

What you’ll bring:

We're looking for a proven compliance leader with significant senior leadership experience in financial services, ideally superannuation. You'll bring deep regulatory expertise, the ability to practically apply legislation to business contexts, and a track record of building high-performing teams.

Your technical capabilities include strong knowledge of superannuation, financial services and privacy law, experience with GRC software platforms, and expertise in developing structured reporting for executive and board audiences.

Most importantly, you're a strategic thinker who excels at stakeholder management (including building strong relationships across the whole Compliance team) and can balance big-picture vision with disciplined, day-to-day operational excellence.

Join HESTA and make a real impact in an organisation committed to serving our members' interests. This senior role offers the opportunity to lead compliance innovation, influence enterprise-wide frameworks, and work with engaged stakeholders in a collaborative, purpose-led culture.
