Are you an experienced data governance professional ready to make an incredible impact? Join our high-performing Enterprise Data team and help shape how we govern and leverage data to deliver better outcomes for our members. In this pivotal role, you’ll report to the Enterprise Data Lead and work closely with business stakeholders—including data owners, stewards, enterprise risk, compliance, and technology teams—to embed best-practice data governance, drive quality initiatives, and champion data governance across the fund.
What You’ll Do
- Drive Data Governance Excellence: Support implement and continuously improve HESTA’s data governance framework, policies, and standards.
- Operationalise Critical Data Elements (CDEs): Partner with business teams to define, document, and embed CDEs into core processes.
- Champion Data Quality: Contribute to the rollout and ongoing management of data quality frameworks, supporting stakeholders in identifying and resolving quality issues.
- Leverage the Right Tools: Support the use and optimisation of our metadata management platform (Alation), ensuring data is well-catalogued, discoverable, and trusted.
- Engage & Influence: Collaborate with stakeholders across the business, technology, and risk teams to drive data governance initiatives and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Continuously Improve: Identify and implement enhancements to tools, processes, and practices that elevate data maturity and usability across the enterprise.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in a senior data governance, data management, or data quality role — ideally within superannuation or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of APRA regulations and data-related standards (e.g. CPG 235, CPS 230, CPS 234).
- Demonstrated success implementing data governance frameworks and managing CDEs.
- Hands-on experience with data quality programs and tools, and metadata management platforms (preferably Alation, but we also value experience with Collibra, Informatica, etc.)
- Deep understanding of data quality concepts, frameworks, and best practices.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
- A curious, analytical mindset and a drive to improve and innovate.
- Tertiary qualifications in technology, data, risk and compliance or related discipline.
