As the Senior Analyst – Operational Due Diligence, you will lead and coordinate the assessment of fund managers and key service providers to ensure robust operational practices and effective risk controls are in place. Your insights will directly support investment decision-making and help maintain our high standards of governance and member protection.
In this role, you will take a hands-on approach to evaluating potential fund managers by assessing their overall control environment and providing comprehensive risk assessments to internal stakeholders. Key areas of focus include governance structures, trading and operational controls, valuations, IT systems and security, cybersecurity, business continuity and disaster recovery planning (BCP/DRP), and personnel.
You will also support the ongoing monitoring of existing managers through periodic updates, which may be conducted onsite, via consultants, or through detailed questionnaires. This includes identifying and investigating material developments or areas of concern. Additionally, you will analyse management attestations, assurance reports, and publicly available information, highlighting exceptions and ensuring appropriate follow-up. Some domestic and international travel may be required.
About you
With a passion for financial markets, you will have natural curiosity to investigate and an understanding of transactional lifecycles and governance structures of listed and unlisted assets. The role requires a strong understanding of operational processes and risks and knowledge of investment manager, broker and custodian operational and governance frameworks and leading practices.
Exposure to asset classes and instruments, including Equities, Fixed Income, Currency, Infrastructure, Property, Loans and Private Equity is highly desirable to succeed in this role. Exposure to asset management oversight and/or corporate restructuring would be a strong advantage.
With experience in similar roles (operational risk, investment operations, compliance or audit) within a financial services or superannuation environment, you will be able to demonstrate understanding of investment asset classes, structures and processes.
