We’re looking for a Legal Counsel to join our collaborative Legal team on a 12-month contract, supporting the business across a broad range of commercial, regulatory and dispute matters.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an early-career lawyer looking to deepen their experience in financial services within a purpose-led organisation. 

 
 

 

About the role 

Reporting to the Manager – Corporate Legal, you’ll work across a diverse mix of legal matters and partner closely with stakeholders across the business. 

You will: 

  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across HESTA 

  • Support contract drafting, review and negotiation activities 

  • Assist with incident and breach assessment and remediation matters 

  • Contribute to dispute resolution and regulatory responses 

  • Review publications and business initiatives from a legal perspective 

  • Help uplift legal processes, templates and ways of working 

  • Liaise with and help manage external legal advisers 

 

You’ll also stay close to regulatory developments impacting superannuation and help guide the business through legislative and prudential change. 

 

About you 

 

You’re a collaborative and solutions-focused lawyer who enjoys variety and working close to the business. 

We’re looking for: 

  • 1–4 years PQE, ideally within financial services (private practice or in-house) 

  • Experience across commercial contracts, disputes or regulatory matters 

  • Strong drafting, communication and stakeholder skills 

  • Sound judgement and a pragmatic approach to managing risk 

  • Admission to practice in Victoria with a current practising certificate

  • Experience or exposure to superannuation, trust law, SIS Act or APRA regulation will be highly regarded.
