Bring your investment risk expertise to HESTA. Join our growing Investment Risk team, where you’ll play a key role in strengthening our capabilities and driving impactful outcomes for our members.
What You’ll Do
As the Investment Risk Specialist, you will collaborate with the General Manager Investment Risk to monitor and oversee HESTA’s risk management and governance framework as it applies to the activities of the Investment Management and Investment Execution teams. You’ll also partner with these teams and contribute to Investment risk management capabilities. Key responsibilities include:
Risk analysis and modelling
- Work with the Investments and Investment Execution teams to develop and implement risk and data analytics, tools and reports; understand key risks and adherence to HESTA’s risk management and governance frameworks.
- Monitor and evaluate investment risk metrics and models including value at risk (VaR), stress testing, risk adjusted performance, asset allocation and investigate underlying drivers of changes.
- Counterparty and liquidity risk review and oversight.
Model risk management
- Investment Risk performance and continuous improvement.
- Identify potential areas of organisational vulnerability relating to investment risk and provide technical and qualitative advice as required.
- Collaborate with various business teams to direct risk issues to appropriate channels for investigation and resolution.
- Understand, articulate and communicate HESTA’s investment risk management and governance processes to internal and external stakeholders.
- Review and provide constructive challenge around areas of risk-taking activity.
Reporting
- Provide support into the preparation of risk reporting for various committees (including Investment and Risk Committees).
What You’ll Bring
Extensive experience in a similar investment risk role, ideally from superannuation, financial services and/or consulting firms. Your breadth of experience spans across investment risk analysis, quantitative modelling, coupled with a demonstrated interest in investments and markets. Experience in model risk management, validation or development is also desirable. You are highly analytical with curiosity, work ethic and effective communication, influencing and stakeholder relationship management skills.
Tertiary qualifications – a Bachelor’s degree and/or postgraduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative discipline (e.g. engineering, actuarial science, finance/economics, mathematics, statistics, physics) is required; and professional certifications (e.g. CFA, FRM) will be advantageous.
