As we continue to strengthen our Operational Resilience and Financial Crime capability, we’re seeking an experienced Financial Crime Intelligence and Analytics Specialist to help shape the future of fraud and financial crime prevention and detection. In this specialist role, you’ll lead intelligence-led financial crime monitoring and analytics across fraud, scams, AML/CTF and sanctions risk. You’ll identify emerging threats, enhance detection strategies and deliver actionable insights that strengthen HESTA’s financial crime controls and operational resilience .
Reporting to the Operational Resilience and Financial Crime Lead and working closely with the Senior Financial Crime AI Strategy Specialist, Financial Crime Operations Lead, internal stakeholders and external partners, you’ll play a critical role in safeguarding our members, meeting regulatory obligations and driving continuous improvement across our financial crime ecosystem.
What You’ll Do
- Lead financial crime risk assessments to identify current and emerging threats.
- Design and enhance fraud and financial crime monitoring, prevention and detection strategies.
- Deliver intelligence analytics, develop dashboards, reporting and board-level insights.
- Review AML, sanctions, scams and fraud monitoring effectiveness across internal and third-party operations.
- Monitor third-party performance and driving improved risk outcomes.
- Support major incident investigations and response activities.
- Provide SME expertise across internal forums and industry engagements.
- Work closely with the financial crime operations team to refine and optimise the transaction monitoring ruleset.
What You’ll Bring
- Extensive experience in financial crime intelligence, analytics or fraud risk within superannuation or financial services.
- Expertise in fraud, AML/CTF, scams and financial crime monitoring frameworks.
- Advanced analytical capability, including predictive and diagnostic analytics.
- Experience translating complex data into meaningful business insights and executive reporting.
- Knowledge of AI, machine learning and emerging financial crime technologies.
- Experience working with fraud detection, RegTech and monitoring platforms.
- Strong understanding of Australian financial crime regulatory obligations.
- An analytical mindset - ability to translate and present complex data, insights and solutions.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in data analytics, technology, AI or a related discipline.
