Opportunity to join HESTA for a 12-month maximum term contract. This is a unique opportunity to make an immediate impact in one of Australia's leading industry super funds, working at the intersection of cutting-edge AI technology and meaningful social impact.

In this role, you'll help drive data-led decision making across the organisation, develop innovative AI/ML solutions, and contribute to HESTA's mission of delivering better retirement outcomes for members.

 

 

What You'll Do

 

🤖 Drive AI Innovation

  • Maintain and enhance HESTA's suite of predictive models and data science products
  • Leverage Generative AI, Large Language Models, and traditional ML techniques to solve real business problems
  • Design and deploy scalable, end-to-end data science solutions from concept to production

🛠️ Build Robust Infrastructure

  • Develop cloud-based machine learning processes with an infrastructure-as-code approach
  • Create efficient data delivery solutions including real-time APIs, batch processes, and event streams

📊 Deliver Actionable Insights

  • Mine data to uncover patterns, opportunities, and insights that enhance organisational performance
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders
  • Support evidence-based decision-making frameworks across the business

 

 

What You'll Bring

 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong technical foundation: Python/R, SQL, ML frameworks (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, etc.)
  • Proven track record delivering end-to-end data science products that create measurable value
  • Cloud deployment experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Experience working in modern software development environments (Git, Docker) with an understanding of CI/CD practices
  • Communication excellence – ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Tertiary qualification in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related quantitative field

 

Highly Regarded

  • Postgraduate qualification in a quantitative discipline
  • Experience in superannuation or financial services
  • Familiarity with modern ML pipelines and microservice architectures
  • Track record supporting change in fast-paced environments
