In this role you will support the development of investment risk and analytics reporting, helping to build out systems and new analytical reporting capability.

 

Finding the right person for this role is paramount so the role could be tailored for either an Analyst or Senior Analyst depending on experience and skill set. 

 

As part of the Investment Risk and Analytics team, you will validate the accuracy of various risk calculations, undertake independent risk reporting, risk attribution and provide a range of analytical initiatives for the investment team.  By conducting thorough portfolio risk analysis, including measuring risk exposures, assessing risk factors by utilising statistical and quantitative models, you will report and explain risk metrics such as volatility, VaR, scenario testing and sensitivity analysis. You will identify and communicate risk drivers and other insights into the decision-making process at the portfolio, asset class and investment option levels.

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will be an investment risk specialist with intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience of investment instruments and multi-asset class risk models. This includes a strong understanding of characteristics of complex investment instruments such as fixed income, structured products, private assets, futures, swaps, risk overlays, etc. You will have knowledge of superannuation and intermediate to advanced quantitative skills to understand, validate and explain portfolio risks and exposures, including Monte-Carlo simulation, VaR, volatility, tracking error, stress/historical scenario testing and factor analysis. Also, in depth understanding of both ex-ante and ex-post risk measures, including risk decomposition and back testing approaches. 


Expertise in portfolio management and risk systems (e.g., Simcorp Dimension, Bloomberg, FactSet, BarraOne, Axioma) is required. Essential technical skills include advanced proficiency in Python and SQL. Strong quantitative modelling skills, along with experience in dashboard tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau), cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and collaboration tools (GitHub, Bitbucket), are desired. The role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively as a team player with excellent cross-team communication skills.
